how to survive

An unending and growing struggle

How to survive in this growing struggle with no hope and meaning left?

No matter how motivated and inspired we are there are situations like war, crises, personal problems, pandemics etc that can easily crush our self-protection system and break us. No matter how strong and prepared we are, very often in such situations we fall on our knees and look for solutions to come out of this. And the more we think the more we get confused. So there is no logical solution out of this type of uncertain situations.

Everything is possible in human life: loss of people we love, loss of income source, loss of job, friends, loss of stuff that we love most.

Very often human being is left naked and hungry in the ocean of life where all the value chains are extremely unstable and destroyed and there is no more quiet corner left for man.
How many times you asked yourself why you were born? How many times you had the impression that you are not enjoying your life but struggling hard without any happiness and hope? Most people regret that they are born at some point or another.

Inner issues raising in parallel with survival struggle

In this struggle, we fight not only with external but also with inner issues. We keep experiencing stresses and physical health problems which worsen with external factors and with our frustration in life. Only with emotional sufferings we create for us stress, which grows into depression, which grows to neuroses and it can grow even to schizophrenia.

It is the same with any other physical health issue. Furthermore, health issues might appear because of external issues and/or get worsen with it at the same time creating more external issues. Meanwhile, I can assume that most of our health issues occur because of stress and dissatisfaction with life.

There are times when everything is becoming unpleasant to the human being who can no more protect himself from extreme situations that keep occurring all the time.

So how to survive in this unending and growing struggle we call life?

How to survive

How to survive the challenges of our new age?

We are living in times of flux and rapid changes. Technology and rapid development are transforming our lives into something very unfamiliar to the human being. Starting from human relationships and finishing with new types of sicknesses, everything has transformed.

Though the 21st century is an age of the idea that well-being can be reached through a high-consumption, luxury lifestyle and we have lots of material stuff which were unavailable before, research on life satisfaction in the last 10 or 15 years has shown that above a certain income level, your life satisfaction doesn’t go up as you consume more goods. So that raises questions such as: How do we pursue the good life? How to live joyfully? Is there an alternative to consumer culture and materialism? There are more and more questions like this. This is partly why in bookshops the self-help and personal development sections are much bigger than they have ever been. And people are still looking for answers and a single purpose in their lives. While the answer is very simple…

Get your life jacket to survive and lead a meaningful life

So where to find our life jacket? Where to seek salvation?

I will tell you a story. Surprisingly, in the concentration camps those who were most likely to survive were not the biggest and strongest or those who could best scramble for bread, but those who had a project in their lives, a future goal which kept them going. In other words, those who had life purpose. As Nietzsche said, “he who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how”.

This simple secret is our life jacket. If you’ve got a great project in life, it can drive you and keep you going through all the pains and sorrows and joys of everyday living.

Having some greater goal gives life meaning. This will not only make you a true warrior in life but also turn your life into service to something greater.

Aristotle said that living without a goal in life is a mark of much folly. The greatest among us dedicate their life to amazing missions changing the world and improving people’s lives, thus making their own lives purposeful, worth living and much more joyful and secure in the hardest times of life.
